Nature Notes Writing Competition

Web Text3.docHave you had a close encounter with nature recently and felt inspired to write about it? Perhaps you enjoyed a perfect day’s fishing, watched a robin pick out some nest building materials, saw a shiny ladybird, a beautiful brimstone butterfly or wandered into a clearing covered in bluebells?

One person who was able to translate his intimate relationship with the natural world and put it in writing was acclaimed countryside writer and illustrator ‘BB’ (Denys Watkins-Pitchford 1905 -1990).

In his spirit we want to invite other budding writers to contribute a piece of prose or poetry of no more than 350 words for a chance to win a range of prizes and the opportunity for your entry to be published in a downloadable e-book entitled ‘Nature Notes’.

Prizes

  • 1st Prize £50 cash, a limited edition copy of BB’s 1922 Diary & Sketchbook, and £20 Family Membership of The BB Society
  • 2nd Prize A limited edition copy of BB’s Birds, and £15 Individual Membership of The BB Society
  • 3rd Prize £15 Individual Membership of The BB Society

The 10 best entries will also be published in a downloadable e-book entitled ‘Nature Notes’.
