John Worsley

Distinguished artist ‘John Worsley’ is perhaps best known for making a life-size dummy of a naval officer ‘Albert RN’ whilst in a German prisoner-of-war camp, which enabled Allied officers to escape. Post-war the episode was made into a classic film.

In the 1970s, John Worsley was commissioned to produce hundreds of original paintings for Anglia TV’s 13-part adaptation of BB’s The Little Grey Men, the award-winning children’s book about the last four gnomes living in England.

These enchanting prints are the first of a series. Available as individual prints or as a limited edition set.

The Little Grey Men Limited Edition Art Portfolio
by John Worsley

In 1942 The Little Grey Men, the story of the last four gnomes living in England, won for BB the prestigious Carnegie medal for children’s story writing, and set its author on a full-time writing career.

Adapting the story for television in 1974, Anglia TV commissioned the distinguished artist John Worsley to provide illustrations for the 13-part series of 15-minute episodes. This required the artist to produce several hundred striking paintings which were then assembled in a multi-frame process using a rostrum camera and spoken narrative.

Now you can enter the world of Baldmoney, Sneezewort, Cloudberry and Dodder by owning one of the 750 limited edition art portfolios produced exclusively by Roseworld.

The portfolio comprises an A3 landscape full colour, illustrated wallet and 4 simply stunning fine art prints produced from John Worsley’s original paintings, which are ideal for framing.
