Letters From The Round HouseLETTERS
FROM
THE ROUND HOUSE

1965-1970
‘BB’

(Denys Watkins-Pitchford MBE)
and Gordon Wright
Edited by Bryan Holden

Birds  ∙  Beasts ∙  Fishes  ∙   Butterflies

This book of letters written by the celebrated author and illustrator  BB (Denys Watkins-Pitchford)  to his friend Gordon Wright focuses on their shared interests – fishing, painting and literature; rearing bullfinches and views on the countryside and wildlife in general.  The pair were close friends for 25 years and the five years 1965-70 were marked by a prolific exchange of letters.

The correspondence provides a unique insight into the day-to-day lifestyle of one of Britain’s finest wildlife and countryside writers.   These are fly-on-the-wall accounts of the everyday that chronicle the joy of good fellowship and pleasure of shared experiences.

A devout naturalist who cared deeply for the well-being of wildlife in all its many guises,
BB has become a cult figure and his books and illustrations are coveted by readers worldwide.

Cloth-bound, 23mm x 150mm, 176 pages, full colour dust jacket. Illustrated throughout with a selection of BB’s scraperboards, black and white illustrations and vintage photographs.

Letters from The Round House is limited to 380 cloth-bound copies.

Press tributes:

"I found the correspondence quite fascinating … it explains the thinking and motivation that enabled this delightful man to produce more than 60 books, numerous paintings and scraperboards and a steady outflow of articles."

Turnstone The Shooting Times

"Beautifully produced by Roseworld Productions.    A great book to read laid out on the carpet in front of a roaring fire with a dog asleep next to you.   Far more entertaining and meaningful than the crap they serve up on the telly nowadays!"

Ken Clifford Coarse Angling Today

"Renowned as one of Britain’s finest wildlife and countryside writers with more than 60 books to his name, BB’s letters highlight his day-to-day life and creative inspiration."
